Inaugurated in 1983, the Civic Orchestra of Victoria is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for musicians of varying ages and abilities to perform a wide repertoire of orchestral music for supportive audiences in the Capital Regional District of Victoria, BC, Canada. The orchestra usually performs four concerts each year with rehearsals starting in September and ending by late May.

Players may check the Players' Page page for a schedule and calendar giving the dates for the 2025-2026 season.

VACANCIES

The Orchestra is SEEKING A PRINCIPAL VIOLIST
We are also always looking for capable Strings Section musicians.

The Civic Orchestra is seeking viola players with performance experience and section leadership skills to audition for the principal chair in this section.

The Orchestra is also seeking section string players — these are non-auditioned positions, but we recommend strong music reading skills and at least 3 years of performance experience. Some large ensemble experience would also be an asset.

All members of the orchestra are volunteers and to play in the orchestra requires membership in our organization (fees apply). The Civic Orchestra welcomes adults of all ages and backgrounds. We recommend reviewing our rehearsal schedule, attendance policy, and roles and responsibilities documents prior to joining. These can be found on our website, here. Please contact us to express interest and provide us with some information about yourself prior to attending a rehearsal.

Please help us share this notice by notifying friends or sharing our social media posts. Interested persons should email info@civicorchestraofvictoria.org for more information.
