BURSARIES
A grant from the Victoria Foundation has enabled the Civic Orchestra to present a number of bursaries to young members of the orchestra. Recipients must make a commitment to play with the orchestra on a regular basis and take on leadership roles.
The first 6 cheques were presented December 11, 2012 to the following:
- Adam Bendorffe, trumpet
- Fabian Duque-Park, timpani
- Julia Hostetler, principal second violin
- Andrea Cave, second violin
- Nathan Jacklin, principal cello
- Emily Prager, viola
After the intermission at the Sing-along Messiah on December 18, 2013, cheques were presented to 4 more recipients:
- Alexei Paish, percussion
- Sarah Lundy, first violin
- Victoria Hartman, first violin
- Nathan Jacklin, principal cello
On March 14, 2015, Sarah Lundy and Nathan Jacklin were awarded bursaries for their contribution to the orchestra, both as players and contributing members of our Board of Directors.
